Refreshingly acidic, followed by a citrus fruit palette, with a touch of minerality for the finish.

Ideal with poultry, fish and seafood.

Tokaj wines, known for their rich aromas and full flavour, earned their reputation as “the wines of kings.” MAD Wine, led by founder Károly Kovács, is emerging as the leading winery in the Tokaj region, with a focus on quality and a goal to make Tokaj wines the top choice of sommeliers worldwide. The company honours the village of Mád in its name, blending the region's rich history with future possibilities.
Greek merchants played a key role in the trade of Tokaj wines, and the town became a Greek community hub. In the 19th century, a phylloxera epidemic devastated the vineyards, leaving only a few grape varieties, such as Furmint and Hárslevelü, intact. The 20th century saw Tokaj’s winemaking tradition continue, with a resurgence in the 1990s driven by independent producers like MAD Wine.
Greek merchants had a significant impact on Tokaj's global reputation, and their influence is still evident today in the Greek-Orthodox Church and the Karacsóny mansion in Tokaj. The region's Aszú wines inspired literary figures such as Goethe, Dumas, and Ibsen. Tokaj wines are renowned for their long-lasting freshness and exceptional quality, particularly the Furmint and Hárslevelü varieties, which age beautifully and retain their unique character.
