Krone Borealis Vintage Cuvee Brut
£18.95
Refined sparkling wine, showcasing a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It offers fresh flavours of green apples, lemon balm, and white peach, with a mineral backbone and a creamy, mouth-coating texture. A delicate balance of red apples and icy berries highlights the harmony between the two grape varieties. The wine's crisp acidity, shaped by a cold winter, is complemented by an elegant biscuity finish from 18 months of lees aging, with hints of fynbos honey suggesting future evolution.
Ideal with mussels steamed open with seawater, salt-baked fish, creamy porcini risotto, braised chicken, and spicy dishes.
Made from traditional grape varieties, it’s bottle-fermented and aged in an underground cellar at the family-owned Twee Jonge Gezellen estate in Tulbagh, South Africa. The estate is known for its unique terroir, with elevated vineyards benefiting from cool night air. Twee Jonge Gezellen, founded in the early 1700s, pioneered cold fermentation in the 1950s and introduced Krone Cap Classique in 1991, becoming home to Africa’s first underground cellar.
