Flor Penalva Reserva Blanco Dao
£13.95
This Portuguese white is a blend of Encruzado and Cerceal-Branco (aka Cercial) for a beautifully balanced and fresh wine that will transport you to the scenic region of Dão. The juice is fermented in cement vats and then spends 3 months in oak for a smooth and rich mouthfeel. With a bright yellow colour, the nose and palate bursts with fresh citrus notes and hints of nuts and spices which is balanced by a refreshing acidity and an elegant finish.
Ideal with rich fish dishes, pork, and cheese.
Adega de Penalva do Castelo is a Dão winery revived by Abegoaria, the winemaking project of the Bio family. Originally from Alentejo, Ana and Manuel Bio have invested in Portugal’s wine heritage, modernising facilities, and revitalising wineries in historic wine regions. Penalva`s wines are made using traditional grape varieties grown on the region’s rugged granitic terrain by local farmers in the district of Castendo. The protection of the Serra da Estrela and location at 500m altitude creates a generous microclimate and distinguished wines.
