The Saering, which was first mentioned in 1250, juts out like a peninsula from the plain, forming a ring-shaped strip of land. This hillside has been commercialised under its own name since 1830.
Domaines Schlumberger, founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger in Guebwiller, is one of the largest and finest wineries in France. It spans 130 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are Grand Cru. Managed by the 7th generation of the family, including Alain Beydon-Schlumberger, Thomas, and Séverine, the winery emphasizes top-quality wines with low yields. The vineyards are located on steep, sandy slopes and are protected by 50 kilometers of dry-stone walls. The estate has ideal exposure and is organically farmed. Schlumberger is certified as a Level 3 High Environmental Producer and has been 100% sustainable since 2003.
