Altocedro Reserve Old Vine Malbec
Argentinian Malbec
£29.95
This Reserve Malbec was created to be the "paragon" of La Consulta, through which the team express the identity of the region and preserve a winemaking style that evokes both the typicity of the varietal and the history of this place. To do so, the grapes have always been sourced from the same three old (49-67 years old), heritage and pre-phylloxera vineyards in order to preserve the qualitative and regional DNA. Despite its traditional style, it always presents itself as a complex and balanced wine that does not lose its freshness and elegance as it slowly evolves in the bottle.
A rich, dynamic wine with ripe dark fruit, plums and raisin flavours supported by well-integrated tannins and bags of complexity. The finish is clean, long and balanced.
18 months aging in French oak.
Ideal with braised lamb, duck confit, cassoulet, and strong cheeses like Blue Stilton.
Altocedro is a terroir-driven winery in La Consulta, a special area in the Uco Valley known for its high-quality grapes from old vines. Since 1998, the winery has been producing wines that reflect the unique character of the region, known for their balance, elegance, and aging potential. Karim Mussi was the first to recognize La Consulta's potential, creating wines that aim to be the perfect example of the Uco Valley.
